On October 4, a study visit of Turkish experts to Pomorie Lake took place. The visit was part of the Eagles Beyond Borders project № CB005.2.12.108, funded by the Interreg-IPA CBC Bulgaria – Turkey program and implemented by Reconstruction and Development Union – Haskovo and Association of Back to Nature – Turkey. The aim of study visit was to acquaint representatives of the Turkish institutions and NGOs with the protected areas in NATURA 2000 and the Bulgarian experience in protecting the Imperial Eagle and biodiversity in general.
During the visit of the Turkish experts, a presentation was made by representatives of Green Balkans NGO, who introduced them to the organisation’s Pomorie Lake long-term conservation program including BioLearn BSB142 project. Topic of pollution with litter at the site was presented and discussed with its consequences for the valuable products from the lagoon – sea salt and medicinal mud. The printed report on litter pollution of Pomorie Lake was presented and disseminated together with project leaflet. Main activities and target sites – valuable Black Sea basin wetlands were also shortly presented along all project partners.
